Congratulations to me! I have graduated from 15 years teaching Art Education to full-time professional studio work!

This is not your typical workshop...Actually, I am the one seeking advise from you 1st, then I will share what I know. It is a life philosophy to always move forward, no backpedaling, and help others as you go. With that in mind...

I am looking for an online test group of women who would like to improve drawing and creativity skills and provide feedback for a learning method I will be working on over the summer. With 15 years teaching K-12 Art pre-professional full-time studio, I have witnessed a gap of knowledge that has less to do with what the hand does while drawing, and more to do with--

1) readiness and awareness of the drawing atmosphere

2) proper equipment

3) realizing and practicing positioning

4) exercises that help the hand, eye and brain work together

5) mantra's (self-coaching) to prevent frustration

6) realistic expectations vs. realistic drawing (pressure!)

7) appreciation/skill of abstract and advanced doodling

8) naturally, when it comes to us women, self-perception-through-art. Creating art is pretty personal business!

Who is this for?

Adults/women ages 18 and over who would like to grow your drawing and creative awareness skills and help me by providing feedback. I want to be sure I listen well before I prescribe...I truly want to know the greatest struggles for adults, so I can be of help.

ALSO--there is another community out there of parents, grandparents and teachers who claim, "I can't even draw a stick figure..." but would like to be empowered to encourage and teach their own creative kids how to move forward with drawing skills.

Are you familiar with flash cards? This is literally what I am creating...a series of cards that are simple and easy to understand with illustrations, concepts, vocabulary, questions, and prompts that can be mix-and-matched as reminders so that wherever you (or your student/child) is at; they, you, us, and we can move forward. Feel free to check out my blog. I have a lot written about this already...

Details?

Honestly, I'm still working on the details, but it's something that has been on my heart for years. Awakening creativity and believing you CAN is key. I still do weekly sketches in my own prayer journal, and it does me more good than my professional work!

I am working on a series of concept illustrations to go along with my teacher's list of "what works". I want to be sure I translate these concepts well for the adult mind. It may be as simple as collecting a Facebook group where I release these illustrations and concepts and ask for some of you to try them out and provide feedback.

What is your commitment? Not much right now...there is no fee for this first round because you are helping me out. Within the next few weeks, I will figure out the best route to move forward. For now, go to the Newsletter at the menu on my homepage. More information will be coming soon. Thanks for your help.
