Summer Outdoor Painting with WHS Art & Mrs. Z

Additional Info

May 20th kicks off the Outdoor Painting summer season. Students of Wawasee Art Department invite the community to join us! A summer line-up of scheduled weekly en plein aire painting sessions in the Wawasee/Kosciusko area will inspire beginning landscape/nature studies to come to life with a fall culmination exhibit and reception in celebration.

Beginner's welcome! Give it a try! *At this time, we are still buttoning up the schedule--Email me HERE to add your name to receive more information. By the way, you don't have to attend all sessions...it's ok to give it a try or attend one or more as your time allows!

Each participant will receive a portable wooden French Easel to use during the 3-hour time-frame and supplies (paints, brushes, canvas).

Each unique location will provide a featured subject (covered bridge, gardens, blueberry rows, quaint town scene, etc.) while Wawasee High School Art Teacher, Mrs. Z and senior art apprentice, Aubrey Gerber (grad '25!) will be on-site to answer any questions and help every level of skills advance.

10 easels are reserved for current art students while 10 are open to community interest. *Sign up now = limited easels.

*Due to minimizing spills and respecting host facilities, we request all community participants age 18/older, or "Mom-&-Me". And, if you have read this far, have interest, but are doubting your own abilities, know that the philosophy among this group is simply to move forward in skills from wherever you are at. Mrs. Z has taught for 25 years and can help walk-and-talk you to a point of confidence. But, just like anything worth doing, time and practice are important.

We are all in this together! No one is too old or too unskilled or too anything to enjoy a few hours with us. We are safe and friendly and aim to have fun together in the outdoors sharing similar creative interests and soaking in the beauty of nature.

**Selected host locations have been pre-reserved. Some locations have been acquired with rental fees; some without. The entire summer season costs/expenses have been assimilated to account for equal weekly fees of $40 per painting session per participant (easel, canvas, paints, aprons provided...take home that day).

First-come-1st-serve by online pre-sign-up only.

***This is NOT a sip-and-paint. Sessions are not step-by-step. Each participant will be painting in their own way at their own pace with their choice of watercolor or water-soluable gouche' oil-based paints (highly washable for clothing and host facilities).

Bring your own: lawn chair, hat, snacks, lunch, water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, your own music selections (earbuds or headphones) and cost of session (+ donations to the Art Department welcomes) by cash or check upon arrival.

Questions or to reserve your space, contact Christi Ziebarth via email at [email protected] or text 574.527.2043.
